"There can be no knowledge without emotion. We may be aware of a truth, yet until we have felt its force, it is not ours. To the cognition of the brain must be added the experience of the soul."
-Arnold Bennett-
I have specialized training in Interpersonal Process Therapy (IPT). IPT focuses on improving interpersonal functioning, exploring individual socio-cultural contexts, identifying maladaptive interpersonal patterns and working to enhance social support.
In addition to EFT and IPT, I use a trauma-informed approach when working with individuals who have experienced trauma. I work to create a safe and supportive environment that helps empower the patient as they work through painful thoughts and feelings associated with the past trauma.
I offer 50-minute long individual therapy appointments. These sessions are designed to help clients from all backgrounds navigate a wide range of mental health challenges, from anxiety and depression to adjustment issues, trauma and relationship issues. I utilize evidence-based treatments to help clients build resiliency, explore difficult emotions and develop healthy coping skills, and achieve their goals.
I use the Gottman method in couples counseling sessions. This means that I aim to disarm conflicting verbal communication; increase intimacy, respect, and affection; remove barriers that create a feeling of stagnancy; and create an increased sense of empathy and understanding within the context of the relationship, improve communication, and resolve conflicts.
I am pleased to offer assessment services, including ADHD and psychoeducational evaluations. ADHD assessments focus on assessing the presence of possible ADHD symptoms and the social, emotional, or behavioral concerns that may explain such symptoms. Results of the evaluation are shared with parents/clients after completion of the interview and assessment protocols. A written copy of the report and recommendations will be provided at this feedback session, which typically takes place 2-3 weeks following the evaluation, if not sooner.
